Top 3 Changes in SBI Internet Banking, Cards, and Mobile Apps

If you are an account holder with the State Bank of India, then you must be aware of the changes being made to the internet banking portal, banking products, apps, and other services. In an attempt to improve customer satisfaction and experience, SBI has come up with a newer version of net banking portal. It has a simple and clean look, and allows you to login to your business and personal bank account. The portal also informs the customers of newer updates, services, and notifications.

When you login to the account, you can easily access your profile, money transfer, and other essential sections.   1. EMV Chip Cards

After December 31, 2018 if your magstripe debit card and credit card is not working, then here is news- SBI has permanently blocked such cards. But, do not have to worry. You can get a new EMV chip card issued instead. If there is a chip on the surface of your card, it means you have an EMV chip card, if not then you should contact your bank immediately for a chip-enabled card.

The issuance of EMV chip SBI debit cards and credit cards was following a mandate by the RBI to phase out the magstripe cards. The bank has already sent the new cards to customers, as suitable replacements. But in case you have not received yours, get in touch with the home branch. The new cards are issued by the bank, without any additional charges.

  • SBI Buddy App and SBI YONO App

The State Bank of India has shut down the SBI Buddy app from November 2018. The app was launched in 13 languages in August 2015. MasterCard was the service provider. Customer could use the app to view bank statements, book movie tickets, send money, shop online, recharge set-top boxes and phone, and access other features.

Now, the bank has introduced another app, as an alternative to SBI Buddy, it is the SBI YONO App. It has now completed a year already. The app is power-packed with more features than that on the Buddy App.

  • Register Your Mobile Number with SBI for Online Banking Services

It is mandatory to register your mobile number with the bank to continue availing internet banking services. The registration was to be done by December 2018. If you are unable to access the online banking account, then perhaps your bank account is not updated with your mobile number. The bank had asked the customers to link their mobile numbers with accounts to avail internet banking facility, as per the RBI advisory.
